ON February 14, 2002, a tiny baby was brought into this world. A baby born on day meant for love however; all this tiny baby knew only pain and suffering during her short life span of five months. She never knew the feeling of how it felt like to be held and comforted when she cried. She never knew the joy of seeing someone look into her eyes with love and kindness. She never knew the most important basic need that any baby deserves, any baby craves and that is pure and simple LOVE. Sadly, Baby Brianna's life story was filled with tears, broken bones and a battered and bruised body. She only lived short five months, however; in her very short life she has touched people's lives world wide. . For, despite the fact that Baby Brianna lived and was tragically and brutally murdered in an old double wide trailer, surrounded by a very tall, chain link fence in Las Cruces, NM, known by very few. She is now known and loved, by people all over the world. And, although, in life she was never loved by her birth family, in her five months of life, she has now been adopted by her world wide loving family. Baby Brianna was five months old when she was brutally raped, sodomized and thrown to the ceiling to the floor by her own dad and her uncle, (twin brother of her birth mother), throughout the night on the evening of July 18, 2002. After they had purchased a twelve pack of beer and drank throughout the evening. All the while her birth mother claiming to be sleeping (in a bed close by) after drinking only three beers, in one of the small rooms of that old double wide trailer. Her paternal grandmother and uncle sleeping in other rooms close by, wishing not to come to the aid of this innocent baby, who was screaming out in agony and pain. It wasn't the first time in her life she had been abused, however. During her short five months of life she had been pinched, bitten, thrown down. Noone caring, noone being the voice for the voiceless. Her autopsy reports showed she had numerous broken bones at various stages of healing, she had bite marks through out her body, she had bruises over various colors, shapes and sizes. Baby Brianna was not wanted in life, nor was she wanted in death. On, July 19, 2002, sadly at 11:10 a.m., Baby Brianna was prounounced dead. Succumbed to the the horrendous injuries that had been inflicted upon her by the man that was supposed to protect her, the man that was supposed to love her, her own father. Violated by her own birth father and her own uncle, these men raped and sodomized this tiny, innocent, precious five month old baby in the most horrendous way. , Thrown to the ceiling hitting her head and allowing her to drop to the floor all the while laughing and having a good old time. Hearing this tiny baby crying out for help in helplessness, her own mother preferring not to hear her cries of anguish and pain, even though she claimed to be just a few feet away from the atrocities being inflicted on this baby girl. Her own grandmother and uncle sleeping nearby, choosing not to come to the aid of this tiny, innocent five month old precious baby girl. She never had a chance! Baby Brianna was not claimed in death by any of her family members. The community of Las Cruces, NM donated her burial gown and provided for her a proper burial. She was layed to rest in Dona Ana, NM. with many hundreds of the community members attending her memorial service. Alone in life, but not alone in death, Baby Brianna is loved world wide. She is loved by her heavenly Father. She is on the minds of hundreds and thousands daily fighting the fight against the deadly silent epidemic that took Baby Brianna's life. Child abuse, something that is cruelly and tragically taking the lives of thousands of our children, yearly. And leaving survivors of child abuse to fight daily to overcome the trauma suffered due to this deadly silent epidemic. Many suffering from PTSD, resulting in nightmares, sad memories of their own childhoods, depression, suicidal thought, etc. etc. No child should ever have to die or live with the ramifications resulting in "CHILD ABUSE". NO ONE! And those of us fighting will not stop until laws have been changed. And the people inflicting this harm on our children are punished to the fullest extent of the law. Baby Brianna did not pass in vain, however. Because of her tragic death the laws have now been changed and the death of a child as a result of child abuse now results in a life sentence. And for the person not reporting the abuse now results in three years in prison. R.I.P. Baby Brianna. Gone but never Forgotten. Always in my heart, always on my mind. <3 R.I.P. Baby girl!
